welcome
Welcome to a tiny intersection, at a small but powerful corner of historic West Oakland, California. On a formerly vacant, blighted parcel of unceded Lisjan (Ohlone) land, now known as 1500 Dr. Huey P. Newton Way (formerly 9th St.), we are building a cooperatively owned community of permanently affordable tiny homes.
We are working to:
- Add 3 high-quality, permanently affordable Tiny Homes On Wheels (THOWs) to Oakland’s housing supply as legally permitted primary residential units, to help address the urgent housing crisis
- Build shared equity via a resident- and community-owned co-operative, to counteract the systematic displacement of our neighbors
- Create shared spaces and events accessible to members & neighbors, to serve and support the wider community.
In the space we hold, housing innovation meets cooperative economics meets intersectional feminism, and daily life returns to its vibrant natural state of abundance, rest, collaboration and creativity. Sustainability and equity at all levels, from resource management to economic empowerment, are the guiding principles of our work.
